the fellowshippe of musickers
The Fellowshippe of Musickers are an energetic band comprising some of the most highly skilled and exciting young performers from the Historical Performance and Folk scenes. All are classically trained but have strong roots in the folk traditions of their varied countries of origin. The band, which was originally formed by post-graduates and Fellows at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, all keen to combine their research interests with the practicalities of playing this fascinating repertoire. Since its inception the group has been heavily influenced by drama and folk traditions as well as academic research which give their performances a unique slant. The Fellowshippe are also interested in seeking out unusual performance venues and situations and the group is driven by the belief that these early genres of music, often outside the experience of classical musicians can touch both ‘classical’ music fans and those audiences often turned off by the formality of the traditional concert scene.
